Zur Person:
Prof. Dr. Susan Berk-Seligson ist Research Professor und Professor Emerita of Spanish Linguistics an der Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Schwerpunkte der renommierten Sprachwissenschaftlerin sind Soziolinguistik, forensische Linguistik, Pragmatik und Diskursanalyse sowie Sprache und Geschlecht. Neben einer großen Anzahl von Veröffentlichungen und weiteren Forschungsschwerpunkten, die sich jeweils durch ihren besonderen politischen Bedeutung auszeichnen, ist Berk-Seligson insbesondere durch ihre beiden Monographien zu polizeilichen Verhören in Bezug auf spanischsprachige Angeklagte (Coerced Confessions: The Discourse of Bilingual Police Interrogations, Mouton de Gruyter, 2009) und zum Dolmetschen im Gerichtssaal (The Bilingual Courtroom: Court Interpreters in the Judicial Process, 1990, 2002 und 2017, The University of Chicago Press) international bekannt.

About Susan Berk-Seligson:
Prof. Dr. Susan Berk-Seligson is Research Professor and Professor Emerita of Spanish Linguistics at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, USA. She is a renowned linguist who focuses on sociolinguistics, forensic linguistics, pragmatics and discourse analysis as well as language and gender. In addition to many publications and other research focus points, each of which is distinguished by particular political significance, Berk-Seligson is internationally known in particular for her two books on police interrogations in relation to Spanish-speaking defendants (Coerced Confessions: The Discourse of Bilingual Police Interrogations, 2009) and on interpreting in the courtroom (The Bilingual Courtroom: Court Interpreters in the Judicial Process, 1990, 2002 and 2017).
